Highlights from My Internship

A highlight during my time with UnidosUS in the Higher Educational Policy Project was having the chance to work closely with my mentor, Amanda Martinez, Policy Analyst, who guided and assisted me with my work. She was very knowledgeable and approachable when I had questions and needed extra help. She challenged me to speak in our weekly meetings and participate in the team conversations. And she helped me in my blog and research report writings with helpful feedback from her expertise in Higher Education Policy.

Another highlight was the Parent Ambassador meeting we had for a Friday Forum. I was very moved by the amount of appreciation parents and families had for students like me. It was great to hear their advice and words of encouragement. Finally, in D.C. it was very invigorating to be around people who come from similar backgrounds and greeted me with open arms. I was very inspired to hear the amazing success stories of all the staff and interns and am so glad to have shared the trip with them.
