Everyone needs a mentor. Adjusting in my placement would have been hard without the proper guidance and push from my coworkers and supervisors.

A mentor does not have to be someone who only helps you in your career but someone who also helps you emotionally. In a little as five weeks, since I met Rob,  he became a mentor I will forever cherish and I am so thankful that I met him.  “God knew I needed you”.

To me, true freedom lies in having the ability to express myself. Experiencing freedom evokes deep gratitude and a sense of responsibility within me, as I am aware that not everyone has the privilege to enjoy such freedoms. 

In the US we use the term “Freedom” to define American values and the creation of this country. We are known as the “land of the free”, every original document such as the constitution, bill of rights and declaration of independence was written to provide said freedoms. Freedom to me looks a little different. 

Living in D.C. has given me the opportunity to reflect on my parent’s American dream and how I am a product of their love and hope. I want to contribute more to this world in order to honor the freedom that they have given me.
