Needed a Little Fixing on my Resume

This summer I have been placed to work for the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) with my amazing supervisor Alejandra Londono who is a Policy Analyst for Child Care and Early Education. She has been extremely welcoming and supportive since the moment I got there. Before I started my supervisor asked to see my resume which I was a little embarrassed to share because I knew that the format was terrible and needed a lot of fixing, especially after seeing what an actual resume should look like for the first time. Alejandra automatically helped me reformat and build my resume to be 1000x better than what it was. If you could see the difference she made, my before and after resumes reflect 2 completely different people. As soon as Alejandra sent my introduction out with a great updated resume, everyone reached out and began setting up an intro meeting with me which made me feel super welcomed. I have been here for a week and invited to a Mexican restaurant (I mentioned that Mexican food was the best, unbiased opinion.), happy hour outing and baseball game with the team! When they learned that I was experiencing imposter syndrome they automatically offered to have a team meeting about how to overcome it. CLASP is becoming more than just a work placement; it’s already helped me grow so much as a person in such a short time.

Although I have been placed with the Child Care and Early Education team, there are so many cross-team projects that introduced me to the other departments at CLASP. As of now, I may be partnered up to do an immigration related project with another intern from the Nationals Women's Law Coalition and I am excited to learn about another organization that is also doing amazing work. Overall, I have had a successful first week and have spent the first week adjusting to a hybrid workspace, meeting new people and learning the lingo.
